How I Found Acting Gigs for My Kids (and How You Can Too!)

The film industry is competitive and exciting. As a child, I wasn't interested in becoming an actor or famous, but once I became a parent, I began to look at the entertainment industry from another perspective.

When my oldest was an infant, two ladies in a local restaurant quickly mentioned how well my kid would do modeling and possibly filming. "Your baby is so cute! You should look for an agent!" So, I considered it, but instead, I attended a couple of seminars on getting into acting, only to find out they were sales pitches to pay expensive fees for pictures, then wait for a call. Some of my friends did it. Their kids rarely had an audition, if anything. I decided it wasn't worth the investment.

Registering with an Agent— A Great Opportunity

When all three of my kids were born, my second oldest became close friends with a girl in kindergarten. They were inseparable. Towards the middle of the school year, we had become friendly with her parents, both of whom were professional actors. Then, they opened an agency and invited my kids to register, offering quality headshots and full-body photographs for potential print ads and film work. We quickly agreed, and that's where it all began.
