My Experience Participating in a Victorian Seance
Do you believe there is another realm, a world beyond our own, where you can contact the dead or conjure up an entity? Or are you a skeptic? I’m a skeptic at heart, but I’ve always been fascinated by the idea of connecting with another realm and finding something, or someone, on the other side. When I was a child, I feared the idea of ghosts, demons, and other entities after watching classic films like The original Exorcist, Poltergeist, and The Changeling (the film with George C. Scott — not the one with Angelina Jolie). As I grew older, I no longer believed in the supernatural, but a part of me always kept a sliver of an open mind.
After several years of finding and exploring haunted places, sometimes with friends, my kids, or solo, I developed a curiosity for searching more, along with a healthy dose of skepticism. I was immediately intrigued when a friend suggested an opportunity to participate in a Victorian seance. So, over the past year, we attended two seances, one in late 2023 and another in early October 2024. The seance is done once a year in a different location chosen and researched by Jaymes White, who guides guests through the site, exploring and trying various methods, including a traditional Victorian seance.
